The anticipated requirement is to provide:

Building 417 - Environmental Problem Description A corrosive, excessive humidity environment exists within the workshop area of Building 417 (B417), Metal Tech Room 118, and Room 117 Weld Lab on days when the outdoor humidity is higher than normal. Tools, machines, sensitive equipment, and stock materials are being subjected to damaging corrosion. Although man doors and equipment roll-up doors are primarily kept closed, the inside shop work requires outside air ventilation to prevent harmful fumes and vapors from accumulating within the workspace. Environmental cooling and dehumidification are not presently being performed in these shop areas.

Contractor Work Scope Requirements:

1) Evaluate the existing HVAC and ventilation systems in B417 rooms 117 and 118 for capability and capacity that will include the environmental conditioning of the workshop and material storage areas. Provide a comprehensive report that provides a minimum of three (3) solutions/recommendations that will achieve the required space conditioning of these areas.

Space conditioning requirements: Operating temperatures of the workshop areas shall be kept within the range of 65F to 86F and a noncondensing relative humidity range of 30% to 70%. Material Storage areas shall be kept within the temperature range of 55F to 75F with a relative humidity range of 20% to 50%.

2) Provide an estimated range of costs associated with each solution and/or recommendation and the time schedule required to fully complete the work. As one of the recommendations, consider separating the Welding Lab Room 117 from Metals Tech Room 118 into two separate areas by providing a two (2) hour fire rated barrier wall from floor to deck across the workshop area. A double man door will also be included as part of this wall. This wall will serve to isolate the Metals Tech Room from the Welding Lab to reduce the space requiring environmental conditioning.

3) Evaluate the existing Fire Protection System and review the architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings to aid in providing solutions and determining the impact of adding the barrier wall.
