NFPC seeks machining services to rough machine 70/30 Copper-Nickel (CuNi) shaft sleeves after casting. The material covered in this contract will be used in a crucial shipboard system. The use of incorrect or defective material would create a high probability of failure resulting in serious personnel injury, loss of life, loss of vital shipboard systems, or loss of the ship itself. Therefore, the material has been designated as Special Emphasis SUBSAFE / LEVEL I material and special control procedures are invoked to ensure receipt of correct material. This scope of work comprises of the off-site rough machining service of 70/30 CuNi shaft sleeves as per drawing (detail 3A of PCI 1855). When complete, the shaft sleeves must have a minimum surface finish of 250 RMS. Following the completion of the machining process, the shaft sleeves shall be dimensionally inspected
and all dimensions shall be recorded.
